GASTRONOMY IN FRANCE

Everyone knows French cooking is one of the best in the world if not the best. That might be because the diversity of the good products and related recipes available all over France.
With more than 365 cheeses, thousands different wine producers, sea food, fishesand good meat, and of course specialties like snails, frogs’ legs, etc… France is the paradise for those who like quality and innovative cooking.
Cooking is part of French culture : Taillevent, Rabelais, Vatel, Brillat-Savarin (Physiologie du gout), Alexandre Dumas (Dictionnaire de la cuisine), Escoffier, Alain Ducasse, Pierre Gagnaire, Paul Bocuse, are some of the famous French names of cuisineall over the world.

Bread Frances
The "French stick", the long thin crusty loaf,  is perhaps one of the better known icons of French life. In France, it is known as a "baguette" – which litterally means "a stick" – and it is indeed the most popular type of bread in France, notably in townsand cities. The standard baguette weighs 250 grams (about half a pound)

Diversity

Traditionally, each region has its own kitchen: 
Northwest Cuisine uses the (butter, crème fraîche and apple) 
southwestern cuisine uses (oil, foie gras,mushrooms and armagnac) 
Southeast cuisine is characterized by Italian influences and uses the (olives, herbs and tomatoes) 
Northern cuisine is characterized by Belgian influences and uses the (potato, pork, beans and beer) 
Eastern cuisine is characterized by German influences, uses the (bacon, sausages, beer and sauerkraut.) 

In addition to these five big regional areas, there are other localcuisines such as the kitchen of the Loire Valley (famous for its fish and white wine), Basque cuisine (characterized by the extensive use of tomatoes and Espelette pepper), the kitchen of Roussillon (very close to the Catalan cuisine) or the center's kitchen with his hunting, his Pâcques pâté, their potatoes (Creuse) and its wines and fresh water fish (in Brenne).-------------------------------------------------

France is a shopper's dream, of course, and "celebrities" haute couture shops are on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and Avenue Montaigne, in District 8. Top quality shoes, bags, andleather goods are the province of Rue du Cherche-Midi and Rue de Grenelle.
In France in early January and early July you can enjoy amazingdiscounts are between 30% to 50% on clothing, shoes, accessories and home textiles. Unable to forget the fragrances in France are well known worldwide but usually are very expensive
The classic French shopping week comprises six days, Monday to Saturday, withshops generally open from 9 am to Midday, and 2 pm to 7 pm In towns and villages, it is still the rule that shops close at lunchtime.

The Bastille was a prison in Paris, known formally as Bastille Saint-Antoine, best known today because of the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, which lead to the end of the country's monarchist rule and the establishment of anew French Republic. The event was commemorated one year later by the Fête de la Fédération and was declared a national holiday.
