An exclamation mark or exclamation point! is usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings or high volume, and generally marks the end of a sentence. A sentence ending in an exclamation mark is either an actual exclamation (“Wow!”, “Boo!”), a command (“Stop!”), or is intended to be astonishing in some way (“They were the footprints of a gigantic hound!”).
Anexclamation mark may be used to close questions that are meant to convey extreme emotion, as in: What on earth are you doing! Stop!
An exclamation mark can be inserted within parentheses to emphasize a word within a sentence: We have some really(!) low-priced rugs on sale this week.
An exclamation mark will often accompany mimetically produced sounds, as in: “All night long, the dogs woof! inmy neighbor’s yard” and
”The bear went Grr!, and I went left.”
Presetting or printing (and therefore when spelling text out orally), the exclamation mark is called a screamer or bang. “Bang” is also common in computer programming slang. Exclamation marks may be repeated for additional emphasis (“That’s great!!!”), but considered unacceptable in formal composition.
In academic prose, anexclamation point is used rarely, if at all, and in newspaper writing the exclamation point is virtually nonexistent.
A full stop or period consists of a small dot placed at the end of a line of text, such as at the end of this sentence.
full stop is a common term used in British English. In Canada, it may be generally differentiated from period in contexts where both might be used: a full stop isspecifically a delimiting piece of punctuation that represents the end of a sentence. When a distinction is made, a period is then any appropriately sized and placed dot in English language text, including use in abbreviations (such as U.S.) and at the ends of sentences, but excluding certain special uses of dots at the bottom of a line of text, such as ellipses.
The term STOP was used in telegrams inplace of the period. The end of a sentence would be marked by STOP, as punctuation cost extra.[1] The end of the entire telegram would be noted by FULL STOP.

When did you finish writing that report?

2. To turn a statement into a question. (the speaker is assuming or hoping for a certain reply. You promise to finish going throughthese invoices?
She didn’t actually quit her job?

3. In statements ending with a word inflected as a query and with question tags.
Just leave these papers on my desk, OK?
So you got a promotion, eh?
You didn’t find those documents, did you? [question tag]
You found those documents, didn’t you? [Question tag]

4. after a direct question which is inserted into a statement. If thequestion comes at the end, separate it with a comma. Capitalization of the question after the comma is used for extreme emphasis but is rarely recommended.
Her boss wondered, was she really doing her job the best she could?
[question capitalized for extreme emphasis]

The question was, was she really doing the best she could?
[question not capitalized – recommended]

5. If the insertedquestion comes in the beginning, put the question mark in the middle but do not capitalize the word following it.
Was she really doing her job the best she could ? her boss wondered.
Was she really doing the best she could ? was the question.

6. When writing a series of questions, use a question mark for each item, even if items are not complete sentences. Capitalization of the question items is...
