Los orígenes
La civilización incaica tuvouna gran diversidad, de paisajes y de condiciones climáticas (entre costas, desiertos, valles húmedos, altiplanos secos y bosque tropical lluvioso). Aun así, los incas lograron habitar esta difícil región por a la implementación de complejos cultivos en terrazas, inmensas obras de infraestructura y una gran eficacia en la producción y distribución de alimentos, que incluso les permitió almacenarexcedentes. Por eso es difícil pensar que su historia duro 100 años.

Conocida también como Tahuantisuyo (tierra de las cuatro regiones), la más importante civilización de la región andina en la época anterior a la llegada de los españoles se extendió desde el sur de lo que es actualmente Colombia, hasta una zona intermedia en Chile.
