1,028 deaths in 334 days?
It is almost unbelievable that in our country morethan 1,000 people had been killed abruptly in 2011 and still one month is left for this year to end. Averagely three persons die each day, puertorricans cannot feel safe even when they go and buy milkin the supermarket. When you are driving you are scared to pass through a shooting, only a few years ago we were so confident of our homeland and we knew where to go and the places that you could beat danger of innocently dying. Nowadays we are not certain whether if we go out of our houses we are going to live, its not matter of luck, and it is really sad to accept that this is our dailyreality.
Personally I think this problem its like a row of dominoes, unemployment leads to depression, this leads to desperation and lack of patience, when you reunite all of these you get men killingtheir wives, suicides, parents killing their children, people selling drugs to make easy money. There are plenty of points of view in this problem, and the one that you can be sure is that our countryis does not have a healthy mind.

And the psychiatric hospitals have waiting lists, but still people wonder why is Puerto Rico in this situation.
This issue affectsevery single person in our country, the fathers, the mothers, the teenage daughters only caring about Forever 21, the schools, the economy, the boys who think they’re tough enough to defend themselves inthe street. It does not matter whether you are elite, middle class, or poor; if you live in the projects, in Carolina, or in Hormigueros. This situation is affecting all of us, all over the nation.The issue of this issue is that you can’t point a town in the country where it’s worse or where it’s better.
