2. What does the length depend on?

The length of all English vowel sound variesvery much according to their context and the presence or absence of stress.

To remind you that vowels tend to be long, we must put a mark made of two dots. Nowwith the two dots we have a long vowel sound. For example pin /PIN/ and beat /BI:T/

Differ in quality resulting from differences in tongueshape and position, and lip position as well as in length.

Rp has a large Lumber of diphthongs, sounds which consist of a movement or glide from one vowel to another.

7. What are pure vowels?A pure vowel is a vowel which remains constant and does not glide.

8. How can we compare the first and second part of a diphthong?

In the diphthong the first part is much longer and strongerthan the second part.
