RADIO IN PANAMA 

Since the dawn of our independence, control of the airwaves in Panama, the U.S. government exercised by the authorities of the Canal Zone. 
Thus we observe that the United States Navy had since late 1904, a small radio station in Columbus and remained until 1910 when it was renewed team, granting small business functions since January 1913. 
There was another in Portobelowhich operated from 1913 until May 1914. 
By 1922 there were a total of seven radio stations distributed in Darien, Balboa, Colon, Coco Solo, Punta Mala, La Palma and Puerto Obaldia. 
In a historic session of the League of Nations in November 1933, Dr. Narciso Garay Panamanian delegates and journalist Ignacio J. Valdés (Nacho), went through the humiliating shame of seeing how all the countrieswere assigned the respective letters and numbers to identify the radio frequencies, except for Panama, because we had no right to any and belonging to the government United States. 
Concerns own national broadcasting that began to manifest Radio Tembleque after Experimental Radio, later Voice Miramar Panama and Radio, which operated without official authorization, but sowing the seeds of awakeningfrom Panama to the radio itself. 
In order to sort this anarchic situation, December 14, 1934, the Secretary of the Interior and Justice, Galileo Solis, gave instructions for the closure of Radio Voice of Miramar and Panama, which operated for free. 
The captain of the national police, Jose A. Remon, following the guideline hierarchical superior, showed up the first of these, to shut it down. Radio Miramar was in the midst of regular programming already had excellent performance tuning, both domestic and foreign. 
One powerful reason for this step was based on the upcoming regulations through a decree affected the Executive. 
On December 20, 1934 President Harmodio Arias signed the decree, which had a long article, which stated a number of requirements and prohibitions. Such as: "Article 1: No radio-communication station can function or operate private and no person shall operate, manage or operate private radio communications without first obtaining license from the executive branch in the provisions of this decree." 
"Article 5: The licenses referred to in this Decree shall be issued by the Secretary of the Interior and Justice, once the executive branch, issued theresolution authorizing their issuance." 
"Article 6: The owners of radio stations paper (in case they are natural persons) and the Directors and officers of companies owning as well as holders of a majority of the capital subscribed and paid them, in If it is a legal person must be Panamanian. " 
"Article 15: In case of war or threat of war or public disorder or suspension of individual rights, theExecutive may, if deemed appropriate, suspend or terminate the operation of radio communication stations" . 
The next legal step was to apply the appropriate license which was issued on December 22, 1934, awarded the number 1, Radio Miramar (HP5B) through P. Guillermo Endara, President of Radio Panama, SA, owner of the above station. Other officers of the company were Enrique Linares Jr., vicepresident, Eduardo Vallarino, secretary, Tomas Arias, treasurer and member Balbino García S. 
Later another was granted permission to operate in the country to La Voz de Panama (HP5J) belonging to Manuel Diaz Twelve, however, was the first ride, the air officially Panamanians, to be inaugurated on December 25, 1934 . 
The program commemorating this date, began with a speech by the Secretary of theInterior and Justice Mr. Galileo Solis and patriotic as he stated clearly, the feeling of pride that "announced to the world that Panama, as free and independent nation , entered the ranks of global broadcasting. "
