This media and culture written task is an opinion column criticizing the irrationality of human mind. At first the column was to be related to the documentary the century of the self, but with therecent outburst of the news of the world scandal, I decided to base my task on it. Basically the column tries to default tabloid journalism, and it is my personal stand towards; first, the respond tothe Murdoch’s scandal, and second how society blindly supports and encourages sensationalist press knowing indeed how full of deception it may be based on. The column is a supportive approach to EdwardBernays view on how easily masses may be manipulated and distorted, being tabloid writing a perfect example. Though in no explicit form I mention how this type of journalism evokes human fears or howthose fears were transformed into massive obedience. The main purpose of the column was to demonstrate how as a result of that constant absorption of human rational behavior by fear may transformreaders into seekers of junk journalism and of being emotionally susceptible by yellowish titles and articles. Though The audience of my writing may be a contradictory public, first it is written for amature profiled reader who is relatively if not interested on media scandal but is willing to read the entire section of newspaper opinion, and then the writing is directed to a truthful and loyalpublic towards tabloid press, hence being the reason for this type of objective audience for making a warning on tabloid newspapers and off course to speak a brief truth about this foolish type ofjournalism.
