Mr. Arboleda is a“Filipino-German” and so he had a very particular skin color as well facial features. In his essay, he says people are not who they are because their nationality, but because their culturalexperiences. He gave an example of his friend's girlfriend she was Brazilian, but with Japanese culture heritage.
Race is “the categorization of humans into populations or ancestral groups on the basis ofvarious sets of heritable characteristics” very complex topic to discuss, but is worth the fatigue. There is always two cultures where one believes is superior than the other one. For example: Israelvs Palestine, South Sudan vs North Sudan, Iran vs Arabs, Germans vs Jews etc. The list goes on and on. Is it really worthy? All this examples have a painful history behind their tittles, and there isnothing good about it. It just hurts the “Inferior culture” and creates hate among both societies.
We are visual creatures, and it has a price. We judge by the skin tone; we judge from the outside,and never look deeper if what we see is not appealing to our sight . Often, we stereotype for no reason. Are we more than eyes, noses, political view, weight, accent, houses, money, values? Are weso different? Point being, we expect people to look different. And why not? like a fingerprint, each person is unique and represents itself as one of a kind. But, we all share ancestors. We all werepart of the same clan way back then. Now, we are just creatures who refuse to work with someone we do not like. But, is all about ignorance. Lack of tolerance, and how we were raised. If were raisedunder the belt of racism most likely our children will be racist too, and we wont do any good to society.
