Exercise 1 Sequence an Application
Scenario
In this exercise you will sequence XML Notepad 2007. Tasks Complete the following tasks on: MDOPCLIENT2 1. 2. Create the package root directory on Q:\ Start a new package in the App-V Sequencer Detailed StepsNote: Each package requires a unique root directory (8.3 naming format is recommended).
a. Log on to MDOPCLient2 as MDOPAdmin. b. Open Windows Explorer to drive Q: and create a folder named xmlnp07.v1 c. Create a folder on the Desktop called Microsoft_XMLNotepad_2007 a. Click Start | All Programs | Microsoft Application Virtualization| Microsoft

b. ClickCreate a Package. c. On the Package Information page, enter the following information in the relevant
boxes: Package Name: Microsoft_XMLNotepad_2007 Comments: Sequenced using 4.6 on Windows 7
d. Click Next.

Begin monitoring the installation of XML Notepad
a. On the Monitor installation page, click Begin Monitoring. b. In the Browse For Folder dialog, navigate to Q:\xmlnp07.v1 andclick OK. c. Once the Stop Monitoring button is enabled, Open
\MDOPServer1\DemoFiles\AppsToSequence, and double-click XmlNotepad.msi to begin the installation of the XML Notepad.
d. Click Next on the Welcome to XML Notepad 2007 setup screen. e. Click the Check Box to accept the license terms and click Next. f.
Click Browse and type Q:\xmlnp07.v1\XML Notepad 2007 for the installation Foldername:
g. Click Next on the Welcome screen. h. Click Install. i. j.
Click Finish when the installation completes. Close the Welcome to XML Notepad 2007 web page that opens. and capture any additional changes.
k. Launch Q:\xmlnp07.v1\XML Notepad 2007\XmlNotepad.exe to run the program l.
Close XML Notepad.
m. Switch to the Sequencer and click Stop Monitoring. n. Click Next to continue tothe next sequencing phase.

a. On the Configure Applications page, right click Readme.htm and select Remove.
