“How to Allow External Callers to use the GXE’s Resources”
Many times the system administrator will have to be able to create a path for mobile or remote users to be able to access the system’sresources. For example we might have a GXE installed in the US, but we also have many GXW series FXO gateways installed in other countries for PSTN termination purposes. The idea is to provide the mobileand remote users in the US access to these PSTN trunks in other countries, so that they can place local calls in foreign locations. The mobile users for example can add the GXE as one of the unlimitedcalling telephone numbers to reduce call tolls even more. As an example we will assume that we have a GXE in the US and we have an FXO gateway in the UK with PSTN lines connected to it. We will alsoassume that the user has already peered the GXW to the GXE as instructed in the manual. This document explains how to configure the GXE to allow an external caller to place an outgoing call using oneof the GXE’s Trunks: SIP Trunk, Internal PSTN Trunk, Peer system or an External PSTN Trunk.

STEP 1: Create a new Voice Menu which will be used only for the authorized external callers.

- Providea name to this Voice Menu and then click on “Advanced”

-

Include the Call Routing profile used for outgoing calls, the default one is “General Outbound”.

-

Click on “Browse” to uploadthe Greeting or select “Record Greeting” to record the Greeting from an extension. The Greeting can be “Authorized Caller ID, Please dial a number that you want to call”

STEP 2: Add a condition tothe “General Inbound” profile to indicate which callers will have permission to make outbound calls.

-

Select the Digit Mapping “.”

-

With this condition, if the GXE detects that the CallerID is one of the ones below. The GXE will route the call to the “Authorized Callers” voice menu and will give the caller the permission to make an outbound call.

Note: The caller IDs mentioned...
