Reflection on genesis
Through Genesis we cansee who God is and how he relates to us, His promises, His faithfulness, His justices, His provision, His plan, His inclusiveness, His opportunities, and above all His love toward His creation. AGod that care about His creation in general, but more specifically about us, want us to be in an free but obedient relationship with Him, and have done even the unthinkable, giving His only Son, toaccomplish that purpose.
I also wanted to mention that it was really surprising to find one specific theological concept introduced in Genesis, the concept of faith, righteousness, and God’s grace. Mostof my live I have assume that it was a New Testament idea, since the Apostle Paul’ speaks extensively on this theme in the letter to the Galatians, and in the letter to the Romans, and the book ofHebrews also picks up on this theme. The truth is that the New Testament is full of references to the Old Testament in matters of faith and the connection is right there in front of us, but in my caseI never saw is this clear. I have always put together Old Testament with law, New Testament with grace. In reality this concept of grace, faith and righteousness has been there for us from thebeginning.
God’s relationship with Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, and others in Genesis was not based on law but solely on faith. For example Abraham is called the father of the faith because he trustedGod many times, he had faith in God and walked away from his land to stranger’s land without knowing what was going to happen but a land that had been promised to him(Gen 13:14).
