Mandatory Sex Education in Schools
Today in society sex is a topic in which teenagers know very little about. Adults believe that by evading the subjectthey can prevent it from happening. They see ignorance a synonym of innocence. The truth is that teenage sex is something that has always happened through history and it always will. The only thing thatthey do bye not educating adolescents about sex is create problems that are becoming more common, like teenage pregnancy. Sex education informs ignorant young adults about the consequences thatunprotected intercourse can cause them. This course should not only be an option in all schools, but also it should be mandatory.
There are several consequences for teenagers lacking information aboutsex. The most common of them is teenage pregnancy. About two thirds of female teens have been pregnant and about 46 percent have had an abortion. These are very high rates and most of them are causedbecause they did not know that they could have impeded this misfortunate event. Preservatives and birth control pills are of very easy access to any citizen but many do not make use of it becausethey are not aware that this is possible. If sex education is implemented in the education, as is mathematics, they will have this knowledge. This will give adolescents the capacity to take responsibledecisions, that before they didn’t know they had.
The victims of HIV have increased a lot the last four years. This terrible disease that many have acquired, could have been anticipated. Howevermost of the victims did not know this. There are many simple things like condoms that can prevent people from suffering a terrible death. Citizens are not informed about sexually transmitted diseases.Many don’t even know of their existence, much less that they can be evaded.
