Project Name: The Really Multinational Plumbing Products Project

Project Background: Multinational Plumbing Products has made a decision to open a facilityin Beijing in order to protect market position

Project Goal: Take advantage of the labor differential between China and North America

Success Criteria: Have a fullyoperational plant in 180 days and within budget restraints

Assumptions:
• If we don’t meet our success criteria, we will lose market position
• Giantco is involved in asimilar project and is on a similar timeframe as multinational
• Construction materials and labor (75%) will come from local (Chinese) sources
• Approvals and regulatoryprocesses mean things will not work the way we are used to in the U.S.
o We should apply for building permits and visas on Day 1 of project
Constraints:
• Time – 180days
o No steel for 70 days
o No work for 60 days after permit application
o Unknown # of days for permits and approvals.

o Weare delivering a factory that mirrors our North American facility but operates at a lower labor cost (within the constraints of the local government)
