The Renaissance.

The Renaissance (originated in Italy) was a great period from the universal history. It was the change from the medieval to the moderm world. Some books say that it started in1453 but others that began with the invention of printing.

During the Renaissance the education was slowly modified. It incorporated the changes made by the humanism. The creation of the printingpress changed the literature world and facilitated new ideas, like the knowledge based on the personal reasoning.

It was a period in which people started searching for the perfection, the beauty andthe true. It had many important people like Dante, Petrarca, Bocaccio, Michelangelo, Da’Vinci, Desiderius and Machiavelli.

Nicholas Machiavelli

1469: May 3:Nicholas Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy.
1494: Implantation of the Florence Republic.
1498: He was designate secretary of the second republic of Florence.
1500: Diplomatic mission near Luis XIIof France.
1502: He meets Cesare Borgia.
1506: Gives its services to the pope.
1507: He visited Maximilian’s court Emperor from Germany.
1512: The Medicis returned to power. Machiavelli wasincarcerated and tortured. He began writing the Discourses on Livy.
1513: He dedicated The prince to Lorenzo Medici.
1520: He composed the comedy The Mandrake.
1521: He wrote “stories of florence”, bookin charge by Clemente VII.
1527: June 22: He died in Florence.

Desiderius Erasmus

1466: Desiderius Erasmuswas born at Rotterdam on October 28.
He was a Dutch humanist and theologian.
1487: Erasmus entered the Augustinian monastery at Steyn in and took monastic vows in 1488.
1492: he was ordained apriest.
1493: the bishop of Cambrai employed Erasmus as his secretary and rewarded his work with a salary for study in Paris, France, in 1495.
1506: Erasmus traveled to Italy, anonymously published...
