What is simple machine?
A simple machine is a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force. In general, they can be defined as the simplest mechanisms that provide mechanicaladvantage (also called leverage).
A simple machine is an elementary device that has a specific movement (often called a mechanism), which can be combined with other devices and movements to forma machine. Thus simple machines are considered to be the "building blocks" of more complicated machines. This analytical view of machines as decomposable into simple machines first arose in theRenaissance as a neoclassical amplification of ancient Greektexts on technology, and is still a central part of engineering in today's age of applied science. For example, wheels, levers, and pulleys are allused in the mechanism of a bicycle.

Inclined plane
An inclined plane is a flat surface that lies at an angle relative to level ground used to form a ramp to raise and lower a load. The load can beas simple as a person, i.e. walking up a ramp, or larger such as trains hauling materials along a graded track. The steepness and length of the plane help to distribute weight and reduce work that isneeded to lift or lower materials from one elevation to another. The force required to lift the load is reduced by pulling it up the ramp. Inclined plane can also refer to a particular type ofimplementation, a straight ramp cut into a hillside for moving loads up and down the hill.
