San Manuel Bueno, mártir
Miguel de Unamuno escribió la historia de San Manuel Bueno, mártir, que estaba redactada en un documento que escribió lamisma Ángela Carballino. Ese documento contenía la vida misma de Ángela en la aldea de Valverde de Lucerna.
La historia contada por Ángela Carballino comienza describiendo a Don Manuel, o mejor conocido por todos en la aldea de Valverde de Lucerna “San Manuel Bueno, mártir” (párroco de la aldea a sus 37 años de edad, hombre entregado a su pueblo; era de hechos y no de palabras). Una frase queclamaba mucho Don Manuel era “Y del peor de todos, que es el pensar ocioso”. Pensar ocioso – decía Don Manuel- es pensar para no hacer nada o pensar demasiado en lo que se ha hecho y no en lo que hay que hacer.
