This Carnival has its origins in ancient Rome, where the Carnival celebrations were intended tocelebrate the arrival of spring. Following this was an extrapolation of these customs in Renaissance Europe by conquest and Carnival coming to South America.
El Carnaval de Río tiene una duración decuatro días en los cuales las escuelas de Samba se dan cita para competir, y en donde la ciudad de Río de Janeiro recibe visitantes de todo el mundo, y se viste de un solo color, la alegría. La ciudad ensi misma participa de la celebración, con esto queremos decir que en la época del Carnaval las festividades involucran a personas de todas las capas sociales, lo que hace que sea un evento que promuevela inclusión social.
