ROBOTS ARE IN THE WORLD, AND ARE THEY IN PARAGUAY?
Pedro Damián González Villalba, Software Engineering 2011
“The practical, tactical and ethical issues of autonomous military robots”, “Robot world news: industrial robots for maintenance of pipelines”, “Latest robotic technology to the rescue of hand amputees robotics technology” are some in the headlines of Robotics Nedir, a websites ofrobots news. In the decade of the 50, industrial robots appeared and from there robots are changing the history of the world, in some countries the factories that have robots produce more and spend less. The biggest companies in the world use robots. Robots do their tasks better than humans; they don’t get tired, don’t have salaries and don’t steal. In Paraguay we have many factories and manycompanies. The most of the companies don’t have robots and their production is small. They have many problems with their employees because their employees don’t their tasks quickly and their employees don’t want to work much, also they aren’t accurate what they do. I think Paraguay would benefit from robots because robots do their jobs quickly, they could be used in factories to do heavy jobs and they areaccurate.

Robots do their jobs quickly: There are many kinds of robots working in several companies around the world, for example in the chocolate factories a robotic arm boxed chocolates organizes, and it is faster than human, this happens in “Zaini S.p.A. Chocolate” in Milan, Italia. This chocolate factory has a robot named “IRB 340”. This Robot can handle “90 50-gram packages a minute and35 one-kilo packages a minute, working two shifts (16 hours) a day, five days a week”. “The robot could go even faster, but we don’t do that for logistical reasons,” says Dario Stringhetti, a technical specialist at Zaini. “We expected a lot from this machine, and we got everything we expected” (1). In developed countries where there are car factories the humans that work there only supervises ormaintain the robots and other machines. Robots are capable of running fast work in the factories of industrial welding. In the museum of science in Birmingham, England there is a welding robot, it welds the seams of car bodies at high speed and with high precision. Robots perform these jobs better than humans; they do repetitive tasks more quickly. In many countries the farmers utilize roboticharvesting equipment to handle a larger volume of land with less human labor. A Robot can work for 24 hours a day, they do not need rests and never go on strike, and it can work much faster than a person. In the hospital in Mountain View, California, industrious robots rove the corridors and ride the elevators carting packages, hauling supplies and even taking out the trash doing their tasksquickly. Other example is Toyota. They began working with robots from 1970 and their production increase. Toyota is the most efficient of America according “The closely-watched Harbour Report” (2). In just 27.9 hours Toyota produces an average car or truck and GM, Ford, Chrysler and other companies need between 34 and 37 hours to make the same vehicle (3). This is a example about the Robots, they can todo their task more quick and for this Toyota produces a car in less time, because they have robots to produce those cars. In the “Tokyo International Packaging Exhibition 2008”(Tokyo Pack 2008) were presented the “Epson Robots”, a high-speed assembly robot quickly and nimbly align and packages and workpieces(4). This Robots do a repetitive tasks, and it do fast his work, too it do very well. InOther area that robots helps us is the agriculture. A robot named “Snippy” pruning up to 400 hectares of vides, this is around half the cost of manual labor (5). This Robot does faster the recollection. In Paraguay we can take these examples and star to use the robots. In Paraguay we have many factories engaged in packing things, like milk factories like La Holanda, Los Colonos, La Pradera and...
