Roots Of The Cole War
Almost as soon the second war ended, started an argue between the USA and the USSR (the cold war). There are 3 explanations:
The USSR was to blame. Stalin planned acommunist take over of the world. The take over of Eastern Europe was the first step towards world control.
The USA was to blame. Soviet actions were defensive.
Neither sides. Misunderstood and forcesbeyond control were responsible (capitalism vs communism)
This really started in 1917, not 1940s when the Soviet communism was born. Two big countries the USA and the USSR but difference byantagonistic ideologies. They were hostile between each others but linked by their common objective to destroy Hitler. After the WW2 there was no proper government in most Europe. The USA and the USSR thatwere the only two powers in the world had to decide what was going to be the future of the new Europe
The Yalta Agreement:
In February 1945 the leaders of Britain (Churchill), the USA(Roosevelt)and the USSR (Stalin) met at Yalta. Poland, largest country, was of great concern for the future of Poland.
Poland would set a pattern for the rest of Eastern Europe. There were to futuregovernments for Poland:
The London Poles
Members of Polish government that fled to London and set up a government in exile.
Strongly anti-Soviet, probably hostile to the USSR.
The Lublin Poles
USSR setup his own communist government (against Yalta agreements).
Warsaw Uprising:
London Poles decide to seize power in Poland's capital, Warsaw. Failed against the Red Army even thought the Sovietarmy was nearby the Soviets didn't provide help. Stalin wanted them to be defeated to be easy for the Lublin Poles to take over. Then Lublin Poles were in charge of Poland.
Terms of the YaltaAgreement:
Each liberated country will have an emergency government - guarantee free election soon.
USSR territory enlarge from eastern Poland - in return Poland would be compensated with German...
