Roque Feller Melgar Lopez
(My Dad)
Roque Feller was born in Usulutan, El Salvador. He came from a big family. He had four brothers and two sisters. He lost hisfather when he was 11 years old, then he had to live with his mother and his six brothers.
Roque used to work hard with his mother at the market in Usulutan becausehe wanted to help his mother, but the most important thing he wanted was study at the university in San Salvador. Roque left Usulutan when he was 16 years old and movedto San Salvador, but the university was too expensive for him then he got a job. Roque finally finished the university.
He went back to Usulutan and he met my motherin 1986. They got married and 1 year later I came to this world. Feller Jr. was born in 1990 and Diego in 1996.
Roque Feller had many businesses, one of them was hisWester Union office in Jiquilisco, Usulutan. He also had two motels, one was in San Salvador, and the other was in Jiquilisco.
The passion of my father was thepolicy. He worked hard for his community. He was mayor in our town from 2004 to 2006. He worked with the government to built the road to the hospital, also he created aprogram for all the single mothers in our town, that program used to help them to get a better skills, for instance computation.
My father had a successful life, he hada wonderful family, he was a successful businessman and he was happy when he could helpe his town.
In September 29, 2009 my family and I lost Roque. He was killedwhen he was working for his community. We lost him, but we will never forget him, that’s why I am going to do my best because I want to be successful like my Father.
