Santos used the peace agreement looking to increase his popularity and to pass into the history books, he did this also as a strategy to reach a re-election and remain in power taking the advantageover the other candidates. As it's obvious almost all of the presidents of Colombia look for the reelection to continue his legacy not only for 4 years but also for eight years, this is what theconstitution allows after the referendum passed by Uribe on 2006. Juan Manuel Santos is no exception for this reason he had started working on the pursuit of reelection, in his struggle for power. For manyColombian people the peace agreement that is underway for these months is nothing more than the pursuit of reelection of Santos; Juan Manuel, knows that he has to go “all in” to win the re-electionand the peace agreement is its medium to reach this. Like Harold Bedoya said, "(Santos) only seeks reelection"

To begin, the political fight that has been taking Santos with ex President Uribe is avery good reason to support the idea that the peace treaty is only an action seeking personal benefit of Santos. Juan Manuel has been addressed by ex President Uribe in a negative way, he chargedrepeatedly against the government of the current President. Santos has been negatively influenced by the criticism from the president because many people have begun to believe in Uribe. Santos and Uribehave a challenge set about who is the best Colombian President, Uribe has been the winner of this competition, which is why Santos is trying his best to win, for this reason he is playing all with apeace treaty which if successful it would give out a place in the history of Colombia to Santos and almost a secure second presidential term.
