The World that Will Never Come
It is difficult to imagine how the future is going to be like with the technology and the advantages the world has as for today. It is not impossible to predict if the world as we know it today could potentially become a dystopian society. In the book The Running Man, By Stephen King, the author gives the reader an example of how the society might decline. Thewriter does not have enough details to back-up his statement. Even though the year King talks about in the book has not come yet, the United States will never get to a point where we have a dystopian society. The government, the economic classes, and the type of education, do not point to a decline in today’s society. It will be nearly impossible for a dystopian society to take place in today’s world.It would be necessary to go through a great amount of corrupted people not caring about the country they live in. The way that people care about their education will not let something that horrible happen. These factors would have to be overwritten to let a dystopian world come into place. While there are several factors that can assure that the dystopian world could become a reality, there areseveral more that completely show the opposite point of view.
The government of today’s society in the United States can be described as Constitutional Republic. People have the right to vote for senators, representatives and the president. This gives people a type of power to choose who they want as their leaders. Even though the government has most of the control over the country, lettingcitizens choose their leaders society a type of relief to know their representatives will do a good job keeping them safe. In the government there are three different branches. Every branch has a different job from the other one. These three branches were created to keep the power balanced. If one of the branches is obtaining a big amount of power the other two come in place and make sure there is abalance point. This is a good system to make sure no part of the government has full control over the entire nation. With the balance point, people can be sure that the country they live in will be safe and they will have their rights as citizens. The intention of the government is to give people a chance of a good life and to do that they need to maintain peace within the country.
It is not asecret that government has corruption within its branches. Some people tend to break the law and not assume the consequence. This is why the level of corruption in the government is so high. There are persons who like to live their lives however they please and if they have money they can do it with an ease. This is where a problem can be created because there are people who have the money to easilybreak the laws. The same situation happened in The Running Man. Free-Vee had big amounts of money and the executives wanted to be the leaders of the country. The government was corrupted until the executives of Free-Ve obtained full control over the nation. The executives of Free-Vee were the ones in control and they could do and treat people however they wanted. The executives were smart and theyknew that keeping people uneducated was the best way to maintain them ignorant.
Education on today’s society plays a huge role. People are obligated by law to attend school until they are 16 years old or until they graduate high school depending on the state they live in. Our community likes to be educated because they know that knowledge is a big key to success. Humans like to know ourancestor’s history and want they are also interested in knowing the most about the future. This is why people continue their studies and go into college. They want to have a better future for them and for their families. The only chance society has of being in a good economic position in the future is to further their studies.
