How was our city before insecurity?


We interviewed some of our family and older friends to remember, and know how they use to lve, what they used to do and all the places everybody used to visitbefore we lived with the fear or concerns we live today.
Today our youth looks to have fun at house parties to protect themselves form unsafe streets.

In the past we used to be concerned about adriving crash that our children could be envolved and now the concern is "I hope there is no shooting in my way home"
My oldest son used to go out and have fun with his friends and was most worriedabout being grounded for coming home late than any other situation.
We also interviewed a man that was a club owner in Barrio Antiguo .
" I used to open the bar at 9p.m. and close until 5 or 6. Butsince this awful situation started, I couldn’t close later than 2a.m. And it was not because I was afraid to being threaded for this bad guys, but all the people were gone by 1a.m. for the fear"
Myparents were used to speak about Monterrey as a quiet and calm city, but today all new we hear are about killing and kidnappings. I mean, Im not saying there was no crime before, it was there, but itwas not as it is now.

We used to go “bar hopping” through the streets of Barrio Antiguo without any concern but the hangover we will get the next day”
But all this insecurity doesn’t make anappearance in the city nightlife, even children and housewives were severely affected, armed assaults were more often since this started than ever because for all the bad people was easier to scare us forthe fear to them of being part of one of this narcotrafic groups.

“We used to go to the park with our children and play all day without any fear, we even used to let them play alone with the otherkids until late as long it was not a school night, but now I wouldn’t dare to let any of my children go out by themselves, I don’t know, I get chills only to think about what could happen to them”...
