Safe House
So many stories, in such a small place, are the best way to describe this old, safe house. The walls look old from their years and the house smells like the time hadstopped passing long ago, yet we all love to come here. On the floor, is the carpet, the same carpet that has been there since I was a young child, but still, everyone must removetheir shoes before going inside. Pictures are everywhere: on the walls, on the tables and even in the bathroom. In these pictures, you can see the stories of our family. Among these,are childhood pictures of myself, or my mother’s Girl Scout pictures. The furniture is old and antiquate, but to my grandmother, it is the most beautiful furniture ever. To behonest, it is still very comfortable. The familiar smell of her home-style cooking draws you to the kitchen, the place where all the magic happens. On top of the table, plates full offood wait for us. It is a rule in this house, that if you come here, you can’t leave until you eat.
Love and harmony surrounds this house with a feeling that nothing bad can happen.It is a place of comfort. If you feel sad or the need to rest, there is the big, old bed where you can go to sleep, and when you wake up everything is okay. Under the table is theoverflowing picture album that you need to see every time you come to this house. In this house, my son can play and do whatever he wants. There is no way I can tell him “No,”because I’m not the owner of this house. I grew up in this house and played just like my son plays now.
There are no words that can describe how this old house truly makes me feel. Itis still one of the best places that I have ever been. It is full of stories, memories, lovely people, and an abundance of pictures. This is my grandmother’s house, my safe house.
