Las enfermedades de transmisión sexual (ETS) —también conocidas como infecciones de transmisión sexual(ITS) o clásicamente como enfermedades venéreas—, son un conjunto de entidades clínicas infectocontagiosas agrupadas por tener en común la misma vía de transmisión: se transmiten de persona a persona por contacto íntimo (que se produce, casi exclusivamente, durante las relaciones sexuales).

Descripción
Los agentes productores de las enfermedades de transmisión sexual incluyen bacterias, virus(como el del herpes), hongos e incluso parásitos, como el ácaro llamado "Arador de la sarna" (Sarcoptes scabiei) o los piojos llamados ladillas (Pedículus pubis).
