Same- Sex Marriage
Democracy is by a general known conception a social order in which the people elects theirleaders. In this social order, certain basic rules are established, the first of them is equality, and it requires that everyone respects others without any type of discrimination. The second rule is liberty, this means: a person can tell whatever they want in favor of or against a topic and no one should punish this person for expressing their thoughts.
Also democracy means that people areallowed to express anything that
they want.
Now we are going to to talk about the social contract, an concept developed at Age of Enlightenment, studied and developed greatly by Jean-Jacques Rousseau and it states that: to live in a society, human beings agreed an implicit social contract, providing them rights in exchange of some freedom and the freedom is in a natural state ofbeing. This means that every person have rights and duties that must be met
Social contract and democracy are two concepts that can be used to prove my thesis:
Society is formed by a group of individuals that demand giving out some freedom and receiving some benefits. It true that in a democratic society the decision of the majority impose wishes to the minorities. But is true that the rightsof the minorities have to be respected and enhanced to obtain a peaceful and harmonic society.
Same Sex Marriage means allowing individuals that compose a minority to enjoy the freedom they have given out. Also means that equality is being given to everyone.
Free will means that a person has no limitation for doing whatever they want to do as long as it doesn’t collides with the will ofany other individual. For several centuries the religions have dominated over the people, the state and the society. After the changes of the XIX century, the separation of the State and religion –in theory– becomes a reality. It is clear that in the practice this didn’t change much since the only reason why the separation was so effective was because the monarchs needed to consolidate their power. We all know how demoralizing is for a person to be casted out of a religious congregation for not fulfilling their requirements of what “normal” means. It gets worst when we find a person who was casted out for being reluctant to accept the “truth”. This impacts the normal life. Even if religion has ben separated from State, the individuals that form this society enhance the religion’s power sothat it could influence the decisions taken by the politicians.
One way or another there is influence of the churches over the state, and in topics like abortion, equal rights, segregation, taxes and Same Sex Marriage, they unite to obtain the best result for their interests. To conclude this part we can say this: if churches cannot marry two persons of the same sex, it means that the statecan do it so; it will generate economical benefits for the state and won’t impact on the way religions carry on their business.
Most of the countries have acquired a compromise to implement their compromises in the topics of human rights; the first compromise is the United Nations Charter:
We the People of the United Nations determined:
(1) to reaffirm faith...
