Hi,
I hopeI don’t bother a lot!
My car is a copy of Mitsu Space-wagon or chariot. It’s a Hyundai with the 4G63 copied to G4CP-Dohc 139 PS/6000rpm.

I am a mechanic, but I use it for myself. I make for living computers.

After I fixed everything, changed CAS sensor, and flushed all the gearbox with ATF SP-III of mitsu, for 2 months perfect. car has now 127000 km. 1 week now, when I go down to the mountain, I press Overdrive button OFF ( O/D OFF) for not pressing brakes. I heard something like marbles rolling inside a big tube, Ihad windows opened and I got the sound. If I am clibbing the mountain, then no noise. Also the noise is getting not a steady noise, like marbles that hit the metal tube and going to another direction. It’s not a growing noise with km/h, but with more repeats as you make more km/h. This condition happens ONLY WHEN I HAVE O/D OFF, AND GETTING DOWN FROM A HIGH PLACE.
If I press O/D ON, then no noiseis happening, but I heat the brakes a lot.
All gears from the morning are working like a charm believe me.
Please give me a thought.
I have an idiot idea:
Maybe cause weather got hotter, when I have the O/D OFF, that means that the end clutches aren’t enganged. So maybe these things disengage more than normal and are making noise? And when I press OD then this noise disappears, andonly when I am going down, never when I press gas like climbing.
See my car photos again in case you don’t remember.
and a small detail, when I go down the mountain, I get the feel that for some meters the car is slowing by itself, and after that that it leaves brakes completely. I thought that TCU is doing that but it might be this something wrong?
I have read thousand DIY pages, I haveALL service manuals, I have made myself a 1984 Celicasupra with 7MGTE, but your page with cars is very well detailed. Happy to see pages like yours, a good side of internet.
Best Regards Savvas Iliadis

As you can probably imagine, diagnosing a noise via theinternet is difficult. Sorry if I may not be of much help.

With the "od off" you will get an engine braking effect when descending an incline. Under these conditions it is also possible to get noises from things other than the transmission. Things that come to mind are a broken flexplate or even a catalytic converter that is...
