In 1917, he published his first article in the Morning of Temuco, with the title of enthusiasmand perseverance. In this city wrote much of the work, who were to form his first book of poems: Crepusculario.
In 1919, obtained the third place in the Maule Floral Games with his poem NightCommunion ideal or ideal. In 1920 begins to contribute to the literary magazine Selva Austral.
After the military coup of September 11, his health is worse and 19 rushed from his home in Isla Negra,Santiago, where he died due to prostate cancer 23 at 22.30 in the Santa Maria Clinic.
