Lifeless without mothers
Imagine a world without comfort and loving mothers. In the poems “Women” by Alice Walker, and “Dear Mama” by Tupac Shakur mothers arevery important, and it makes it obvious that we need the comfort and love of our lovely mothers. In the poem “Women” the speaker talks about mothers being “real” mothers, how they battle for you andtake care of you, and will always be their for you. This poem makes mothers seem perfect. In the poem “Dear Mama” the speaker tells us that mothers will be there for you even though you do bad things.The two poems share resemblance and dissimilarity using tone, imagery, and theme.
Both poems share a tone of admiration for mothers, but “Women” more fill with a rejoicing while “Dear Mama” isstraightforward. The speaker in “Women” views mothers as truly hard workers individuals: “They were women then, my mama’s generation.” The speaker appreciation for mothers is evident that he confessesthat mothers back then were more hard workers for their children. Similarly, the speaker in “Dear Mama” is also very praiseful of his mother for the many things she did for him: “You always a blackqueen mama.” The speaker refers his mom to royalty because she was always the best thing for him. There was a slight divergence between these two poems. In “Women”, there was more of a convictionalthought: “How they knew what we must know.” This quote evidently shows us how the moms were sure what their children needed to make their adolescent children have an excellent life. However, in the poem“Dear Mama” there was more of a straightforward attitude like this quote shows: “When I was young me and my mama had beef.” This quote tells us that since he was a child his mom and him had problems.After examining both poems closely, it is noticeable that each speaker think highly of their mothers, except “Women” had a loftier tone while “Dear Mama” was super realistic.
