Dispositive 2: The Ganges River has always been known as a religious icon in the world. The Ganges River is over 1557 miles long passingthrough Bangladesh and most of India.

Dispositive 3: The River is known as a spiritual center because the people of India rely on the river for most life functions in the area. The uses in Indiafor the river are nearly endless.

Dispositive 4: The main functions of the river are Agricultural use, transportation, baptisms, drinking, and bathing.

Dispositive 5: The water from theGanges River and the surrounding soil are very good for agricultural uses.

Dispositive 6: This river is also used a baptizing sanctuary, and burial hole. Babies are baptized in the river because theybelieve it cleanses the child.

Dispositive 7: Also when a person dies and is cremated their remains are released into the river for the same reason, because they believe it cleanses the soul.Dispositive 8: The River also serves as a drinking source, bathing hole and baptism sight. The river is one of the only sources of water for the people of India.

Dispositive 9: On the same noteit is used as a mass bathing hole, over 10 million people bathe in the river daily, these people who have diseases and very poor hygiene cause for the pollution of this river.
Dispositive 10: Therapid explosion of India's population in the last 25 years coupled with regulations on industry has put a huge strain on the river.
Thousands of bodies are cremated on the banks of the river yearlywith many being released into the river with hopes that their souls may have a direct path to heaven.

Dispositive 11: In late May or early June every year or descent of the Ganges from heaven toearth. The day of the celebration, Ganga Dashahara, the dashami (tenth day) of the waxing moon of the Hindu calendar month Jyestha, brings throngs of bathers to the banks of the river.
