Analysis of Poem Sea Fever by John Masefield

Sea fever by John Masefield is a poem about the love for the sea, made up of 3 stanzas and a rime of AABB in all three stanzas. The author talks about going back to the sea and enjoying his time there.
Masefield the author gives hints ofwanting to go back to sea alone, maybe expressing that he wants to have some time for himself maybe to think and reason about life by saying “to the lonely sea” also thisputs the author and the sea together like in a relationship like if the sea is lonely if he is not there. Masefield expresses some negativity by mentioning “gray mist” but itovercomes it with “gray down breaking”. He expresses that going back is a necessity for his life to continue for his life to be complete like if the sea is a part of him thatis been away from him for a long time by saying “wind call and a clear call that may not be denied” “sea gulls crying”. Masefield ends the poem saying that he wants to be partof the sea until the end of his days enjoying the quietness and peace that the sea gives him.
During the poem John makes going to sea like an obligation repeating “I mustgo” every single stanza, John expresses that he wants the quiet and reflection of the sea using words like “lonely, crying, quiet sleep, sweet dream” Masefield makes asensation that the boat is moving using words like “go, wheels kick, wind, flying, must go” also John describes the sea and nature as a person that seems to need him “lonely seaand the sky; star to steer her by, winds song, laughing fellow-rover”
Sea Fever is the necessity of the author of going to sea and wanting to spend his last days there.
