Who would have believed that we, humans, evolved from apes?
The idea of evolution given by Darwin is not hard tounderstand. The weakest are eliminated in this struggle letting the strongest ones take over. The survivors pass on their characteristics to their offspring improving the transmission of characters. Hesaid that favourable variations would tend to remain and unfavourable ones would be vanished, and as the result of this, there would be a formation of new species.
Darwin’s theory also explainedwhy species were so well adapted to their environment and how species would form. He suggested that all living things were related, and that everything descended from a common ancestor. This theory madeit seem possible that even people might just have evolved - quite possibly from apes - and destroyed the prevailing (current) agreement with the church on how the world was created. Darwin wasconstantly attacked, even by the Church. Anyhow, his ideas soon gained territory and become a common belief.
This man was able to change the world’s mind. But his ideas were not easily accepted. Hethought he had found the truth and adopted it. He had to face a fierce resistance from many important powerful people, including the church. In this regard, Darwin is an example for life, he was brave todefend what he thought was the truth. And nowadays more and more people believe him, even the church whose acceptance around the whole world has increased. He has been also able to renew other ideas....
