SALVADOR BROTONS Neix a Barcelona l'any 1959. Estudia flauta per tradició familiar i realitza els seus estudis al Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona obtenint els títols superiors de flauta, composició i direcciód'orquestra. L'any 1985 es trasllada als Estats Units d'Amèrica on assoleix el doctorat en música a la Florida State University. Des d'aleshores resideix a EEUU. Ha escrit un nombre considerable d'obres per a orquestra, cambra i veu, i ha rebut més• de deu premis de composició, entre els quais destaquen, de l'Estat Espanyol, el Premio Orquesta Nacional de España (1977), el Premi Jove d'Or (1980), elPremi Ciutat de Barcelona (1983) i el Premi Reina Sofia de Composició (1991); i deis premis rebuts a Estats Units destaquen el Southeastern Composers League Award (1988), el The Madison University Flute Choir Composition Award (1987). Actualment es Director titular de la Oregon Sinfonietta de la Vancouver Symphony de l'estat de Washington i de i'orquestra Po rtland State University de la ciutat onresideix actualment. És a aquesta Universitat on exerceix docència de contrapunt i literatura de la música. És membre de l'Associació Catalana de Compositors.

SALVADOR BROTONS Born in Barcelona in the year 1959. He studies flute following the family tradition and studies at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Barcelona and obtaining the qualifications in superior studies of flute, compositionand orchestra direction. In the year 1983 he goes to study in the United States where he obtains the doctorate in music at the Florida State University. Since then he has lived in the United States. He has written a considerable number of works for orchestra, chamber and voice, and he has won more than ten prizes for composition, the most impo rtant of which from the spanish state include theSpanish National Orchestra Award (1977), the Award Jove d'Or (1980), the City of Barcelona Award (1983) and the Queen Sofia Composition Award (1991); and of the prizes won in the United States the Southeastern Composers League Award (1986), The Madison University Flute Choir Composition Award (1987) stand out. He is at present the titular Director of the Oregon Sinfonietta of the Vancouver Symphonyof the State of Washington and the Portland State University Orchestra institution where he teaches Counterpoint, Conducting and Music Literature. He is a member of the Catalan Association of Composers.
