Premarital sex is a common question among teens and engaged couples. You are probably thinking about the positive and negative aspects about it . On the positive finding acceptance from your friends, partner and hope for pleasure . On the negative side pregnancy , sexual transmitted diseases , guilt and morals are part of it.
Premarital sex runs th risk of conceiving illegitimate children.Numerous scientific studies show that the children of single mothers suffer psychologically and are less succesful socially and academically than children from intact families . It is wrong to risk having children who will never have their fathers love , protection and care.
In my personal opinion everyone must wait untill marriage in order to have sexual intercourse. People often confuse some termsthat are related to this topic such as premarital sex , fornication and adultery.
Fornication is having premarital sex , adultery is married people having sexual intercourse with another person that its not their partner.
Why do i think premarital sex is not the right decision ?
There are many reasons why sexual intercours can wait until you are married.
After watching unmarried people havingunwanted pregnancies , children from parents that dont want them , and children from parents that are not prepared to have them , I assume premarital sex is a controversial issue nowadays and we can see it everyday on the newspaper , Television , in our families , our society.
Imagine for a moment a world without premarital sex, there woulde be no STD's , there would be no unwed mothers orunwanted pregnancies.
Did you know that 50% of people who curently have HIV are between ages 15 and 24 ? Wearing condoms only reduces the risk of contracting HIV by 85 % . Condoms do not significantly reduce the risk of contracting other sexually transmitted diseases.
Girls can get pregnant or catch an STD the first time they have intercourse even if they wear protection , there is always a risk.Birth control and STD protection must be used properly to be effective. Missed pills and doubled up condoms are the most common misuse of birth control and can result into effects mentioned before.
Teenage girls who are pregnant , specially if they dont have parental support are at risk of not getting adequate prenatal care. Prenatal care screens for medical problems in both mother and baby ,monitors the baby's growth and deals quickly with any complication that arise . A married woman or a mature adult can schedule a baby and take prenatal care vitamins with folic acid , they are essential in helping prevent certain birth defects. Pregnant teenagers have a higher risk of getting higher blood pressure than pregnant woman in their 20s or 30s.
Honduras occupies the 2nd place of countrieswith more teenage pregnancies in Latin America , where one of every four births is from a girl below 19 years old.30% of the population of pregnant women in Honduras are under 18 years and noted that the high maternal mortality among adolescents is alarming.1
"The situation is so serious that 22% of all pregnancies in the country is in this population, which means we have pregnant 50,000 teens eachyear"2

Less than one half of highschool students have sexual intercourse on the public sector in Honduras. Another concerning fact is education , less than one third of teen mothers and fathers complete highschool.
30% of teenage pregnancies end in abortions , 14% in miscarriage and the rest end in births. Children of premature mothers are likely to be born with many disablities , they are50 % more likely to repeat a grade . They are less likey to complete highschool than children of mothers who waited to have a baby.
Morality is a factor for many people when deciding when deciding wether or not having premarital sex.
