Where are you from Linus?
R. - I was born on December 28, 1969 in the city of Helsinki, Finland.

Do you do now?
R. - I am currently a software engineer and am currently responsible for the GNUproject and belong to the Swedish-speaking community in Finland.
Currently working in the Open Source Development Labs in Beaverton, Oregon.

And what is the GNU project?
GNU is a recursive acronymGNU is Not Unix. The GNU system was designed to be fully compatible with UNIX. Being compatible means that GNU deUNIX architecture is composed of small individual pieces of software, many of whichwere already available, such as text editing system TeX and the X Window System, which could be adapted and reused , others however had to be rewritten. To ensure that the GNU software to remain freefor all users could "run, copy, modify and distribute", the project should be released under a license designed to ensure those rights while avoided further restrictions thereof. The idea is known inEnglish as copyleft - 'left-autor' (in clear opposition to copyright -' autor'-right), and is contained in the GNU General Public License (GPL).

As you started the project was Linux?
Well, when Ilived in Finland and was in college studying to communication sciences at the University of Helsinki, buy a computer I had at the time Intel 80386 microprocessor, which operated at 33 MHz and had 4MB ofRAM .
The operating system running on that computer was not to my liking, that was Minix operating system, so I decided to make an operating system itself. Based on the Minix operating system, onthe first attempt, achieved arraancara get the computer and display a simple string "aaaaabbbbb" and then I needed to download and upload files from my university, so, after hard work and continued, Iwas able to make a driver disk for that version of software.
