Bluetooth
Is an open wireless technology standard for changing data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks with nice security. Created and developed byEricsson in 1994. It was mainly made as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables. It can connect some devices, overcoming problems of synchronization. Today Bluetooth is managed by the BluetoothSpecial Interest Group.
Bluetooth uses a radio technology called frequency-hopping spread spectrum, which chops up the data being sent and transmits chunks of it on up to 79 bands (1 MHz each) in therange 2402-2480 MHz. A Bluetooth user can connect with 7 users at the same time (maximum). It also is a standard communications protocol primarily designed for low power consumption, with a short range(power-class-dependent: 100 m, 10 m and 1 m, but ranges vary in practice
Harald Blåtand was King of Denmark from approximately A.D. 940 to 985. During his reign King Harald is reported to haveunited Denmark and Norway and to have brought Christianity to Scandinavia. Apparently "Blåtand" translates, at least loosely, to "Blue Tooth". Articles in leading computer-industry trade press publications and in a few of the mainstream media have appeared withsome frequency. Analysts such as the Cahners In-Stat Group and the Gartner Group DataQuest now use Bluetooth wireless communications in studies and forecasts. Between November 1998 and June 2000 atleast nine major Bluetooth developers conferences were made in cities including Atlanta, Tokyo, London, Amsterdam, Geneva, Los Angeles and Monte Carlo. The SIG-sponsored conference in December 2000 in...
