Sharks Vs. Dolphins

When people hear about sharks, they usually associate animals with danger. On the other hand, dolphins are associated with friendship and sociability. However, there is more than a skill in theseanimals to identify them. Do you know about their body skills? Or is there any similarity between them? If we take a look at their skills, their diet, their social behavior and their sleep customs, wewill find many similarities and differences.

Few of their skills are developed by similar organs. Both sharks and dolphins’ hearing characteristic consists of a small ear on each side of their head.They also receive the noisy waves directly to some vibration and sound detecting organs that are piled in the acoustic system. Nevertheless, sharks’ eyes posses a tissue called tapetum lucidum thatgives light to the retina’s sharks, giving an efficient view in the marine environment, while almost all dolphins have acute eyesight everywhere they go. Whereas sharks have olfactory senses located inthe duct between the anterior and posterior nasal openings, dolphins lack olfactory nerves and lobes. Dolphins use the echolocation to feel their food. Echolocation helps them to find, throughvibrations, the patterns that make them locate what they are looking for.

These marine animals diet is alike in several ways. They both are carnivorous. Fish and Squid are the main source of food forthem. Besides, some species like the Killer Whale and the Zebra Shark also feed on marine mammals. Even though their food is similar, the way used to get it is completely different. Unlike dolphins,sharks are filter feeders. Sharks wait silently in the bottom of the water to surprise their victim. Corralling is a method common in dolphins because they chase the schools of fish until they aresatisfied.
