Should People Convicted Of Minor Crimes Do Community Service Rather Than Go To Prision

Nowadays, Argentina is facinginsecurity. The amount of minor crimes has increased a 65% during the last year. Citizens are worried, desperate and even frightened of getting our of their houses. Don’t you think twice the idea of goingout of your home just to have dinner? I do.
Last month, I was having an interesting and marvellous conversation with my son and he told me about his trip to Europe. He was impressed about the waylocal people lived. He remarked me how they walked in streets without fear and how they were not expecting something to happen as we do in Argentina.
I then started to think about our life, our nation,our Argentina, and so I realized we could live in better conditions. I thought that people convicted of minor crimes should do community service rather than go to prision.
To begin with, prisions areovercrowded, they do not have enough space to support such amount of criminals. What is more, we cannot mix dangerous criminals as sexual offenders, murderers and kidnappers with minor criminals thatare the ones which are mostly affecting our lives nowadays. We canot compare them considering that small villains are not killers as they do not hurt anybody. Nonetheless, they must be punished.
Ifirmly believe, that community service would be the appropiate chastening taking into account that public places would be better maintein as trespassers will be asked to do municipal work. They would beforced to clean streets, repear roads, paint buildings as well as helping and taking care for the aged. Moreover, these services would be done at no cost.
Another major advantage of minor criminalsjoining community services instead of going directly to jail, is that they will no be an expense to the city and, as a result, taxes would be reduced.
Furthermore, these felons can keep their jobs...
