Should The Morning-After Pill Be Banned?

The morning-after pill is a contraceptive that prevents pregnancy when women have unprotected sex or simply had problems with any other contraceptive. The morning-after pill prevents a woman fromgetting pregnant by stopping the occurrence of ovulation, fertilization, or implantation. If the woman is already pregnant or 72 hours have already passed, this emergency contraception will not work.Many people want to prohibit the morning-after pill and other emergency forms of contraception for various reasons, such as personal, professional, or religious.
I do not agree with prohibiting themorning-after pill. I disagree for many reasons. First, it is a method that helps us to stop pregnancies in very young women. Second, there will be a lot of economic problems caused by bringing a babyinto a financially and otherwise unstable situation. And third, the morning-after pill is not the same as an abortion, in my opinion. It is an extra method of preventing pregnancy, and not damaging theyoung women’s future for an error, such as a broken condom, or other reasons.
One of the most important men in the country, Barack Obama, said and affirmed, that he supports the decision of theDepartment of Health, to prevent girls under seventeen years from buying the morning-after pill without a prescription. Obama said exclusively the Secretary of Health, Kathleen Sebelius, made thedecision, which excludes the possibility of selling the contraceptive. “And as I understand it, the reason Kathleen made this decision was she could not be confident that a 10-year-old or an 11-year-old goinginto a drugstore should be able — alongside bubble gum or batteries — be able to buy a medication that potentially, if not used properly, could end up having an adverse effect. And I think mostparents would probably feel the same way”, Obama said.
