Depression is a problem that impacts every aspect in a teens´ lives; it is a very terrible illness, that can lead to awful consequences like suicides. Thisdisease, isn´t just bad moods and occasional melancholy, however, learning how to identify the signs in teenagers’ depression, can help to take them for a treatment so they can go back on track. Being a teen means a lot of changes in your feelings because of the hormones, and as aresult, teens have highs and lows in their moods. With all this drama it isn´t always easy to differentiate between depression and normal teenage moodiness, even more complicated of some depressed teenssymptoms of irritability, aggression, and rage are more prominent. Some of the signs in depressed teenagers are: anger, hostility, sadness, hopeless, frequent crying, and guilt. To know if anadolescent is depressed of just “being normal”, note how long they present this signs.
Depression carries negative effects in teenagers that go far beyond a melancholy mood. Many rebellious and unhealthybehavior or attitudes in teenagers are actually indicators of depression, untreated depression can lead problems at school, this people present low energy and difficulties to concentrate, and this maylead to poor attendance. Other effect is the eating disorders: anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating, and yo-yo dieting. Also, other important symptom teenagers use to consume substances like alcohol ordrugs, in an attempt to “self-medicate” their depression, unfortunately, substance abuse only make things worse.
