The Simple Present tense is used to describe habitual actions that occur with some frequency and does not refer to whether is happening at present.
I playtennis. Yo juego tenis.
(Mention of a sport that I do every day and not necessarily what I'm playing right now).
He works in an office. El trabaja en una oficina.
(This refersto work that develops a person often).
They travel to Madrid. Ellos viajan a Madrid.
(Talk about a trip that is repeated every day, even if the subject is not doing now).Here are the ways affirmative, interrogative and negative of this tense:
Rules for the Simple Present
Generally, the verbs add-s to the 3rd person singular
Examples:
Help / Helpsfind / Finds live / lives run / runs
• Verbs and go do is add-
Do / does go / goes
• Verbs ending in-s, - ss, - sh,-ch,-x,-is added to the 3rd person singular.
Examples:
Miss /Misses mix / mixes brush / brushes catch / catches
• Verbs ending in consonant + and changing and i add is.
Examples:
Dry / dries hurry / hurries
But the finishes in a vowel +and follow the general rule.
