* Airport’s generators

This is where all the electricity needed is made. We can find three generators: the main generator, the sencondary generator and the standbygenerators. All of them have a function assigned.

The main generator is the main power supply at the airport. In case the main generator has a failure, the sencondary generator starts working, so atleast there’s one generator working.

The standby generator is for emergency cases. It can supply the main and secondary generators if it’s needed so it can asure a continuos service if there’s apower cut. It powers the exit door light and fire alarms so the evacuation of the airport can be made easily.

Main generator control room is composed by a PC-based control console and getawaymodules that convert the data on twisted pair into fibber optic signals to allow monitoring and diagnostics at remote locations.

Technicians can monitor the power comsumtion in each área of the airport.If something is out of control, the can automatically know something is wrong so technicians can fastly rapair it.

* Electric transportation

GSE (Grounf support equipment) is found inairports to support the operations made at an aircraft on the ground. It’s composed of chocks, refuelers, ground power units, buses, container loader, air starter, belt loader, passengers boarding stairs,anti-icing vehicles and catering vehicle.

* Chocks prevent an aircraft from moving while its´ parked.

* Refuelers can be either a self contained fuel truck ora n hydrant truck or cart.They tipically contain up to 10,000 US gallons of fuel.

* Ground power units supply power to parked aircrafts. They may be built into the jetway so power supply is easier.

* Buses areused to move passengers from the tarminal to the aircraft and on the contrary way.

* Container loader is used to load and unload cargo placed in containers on pallets. It has two platforms which...
