Concepts in your notebook
Organization of the Human Body
Objectives: a) Describe how the human body is organized b) Explain homeostasis
Vocabulary: epithelial tissue, connective tissue, nervous tissue, muscle tissue, homeostasis, feedback inhibition, mechanical digestión, chemical digestión, amylase, esophagus, peristalsis, stomach, pepsin, chyme, small intestine, villus, large intestine.Food and Nutrition
Objectives: Explain how food provides energy, Identify the essential nutrients your body needs and tell how each is important to the body, Explain how to plan a balanced diet.
Vocabulary: Calorie, carbohydrate, fat, protein, vitamin, mineral
The Digestive System
Objectives: Describe the organs of the digestive system and explain their functions. Explain what happens duringdigestion. Describe how nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream and wastes are eliminated from the body.
Vocabulary: mechanical digestión, chemical digestión, amylase, esophagus, peristalsis, stomach, pepsin, chyme, small intestine, villus, large intestine
The Excretory System
Objectives: To describe the structures of the excretory system and explain their functions, explain how thekidneys clean the blood, kidneys. Describe how to maintain homeostasis.
Vocabulary: excretion, Structures: skin, lungs, liver, kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, urethra, nephron glomerular filtration, Bowman's capsule, resorption, loop of Henle, renal disorders

Evidence in the CD
How is feedback inhibition important in maintaining homeostasis
Why is a home heating system a good model forfeedback inhibition in the body
What is homeostasis
What are two roles of the liver in maintaining homeostasis
Why is it important to consume a balanced diet (Responses should mention that eating a balanced diet provides the nutrients and energy required to maintain a healthy body and weight.)
Describe how the kidneys help maintain water balance
Write a report on homeostasis in the humanbody and looking for 2 examples of feedback
Describes your diet and the nutritionist
Structure and function of the digestive system
Research on kidney and digestive disorders

ORGANIZATION OF THE BODY
* Cell: basic unit of structure and function of living things
* Tissues: a group of cells similars that perform a simple function
* Organs: a group a different types of tissuesthat work together that perform a single function
* Organ Systems : an organ system is a group of organs that perform closely related functions
EPITHELIAL TISSUE- Cover interior and exterior body surfaces
Exocrine Glands: swet, tears and digestive juices
Endocrine Glands: hormones(hypotalamus, ovary, testis, thyroid) Skin, Stomach)
CONNECTIVE TISSUE- Provides support for the body and itsparts connects
It is divided into three categories:
Connective tissue: epithelial cells is combined with to form membranes
Fibrous connective tissue: Includes tendons and ligaments
Specialized connective tissue: bone, cartilage, blood, lymph, adipose tej, etc.
Except this blood and lymph tissue fibers is woven by protein called collagen
NERVOUS TISSUE- Trasmits nerve impulses throughout thebody
MUSCLE TISSUE- Along with bones enables the body to move
HOMEOSTASIS- Is the process by wich organisms keep internal conditions relatively constant despite changes in external environments
Feedback inhibition or Negative feedback - Is the process in which a stimulus produces a response that opposes the original stimules Example: a home heating system Hypothalamus contains nerve cellsthat monitor both the temperature of the skin and the organs in the body
Positive feedback - Is the process in which is needed a system that regulates some aspect of the cellular environment .Example:Thyroid gland and thyroxine. A drop in the thyroxine decreases the metabolic activity of cells (hypothalamus and pituitary gland)
Chemical digestion: stomach contains millions of gastric glands...
