Introduction

StandardsPro™ Overview
The StandardsPro™ application allows you to create, maintain, and manipulate
standards for production or delivery processes. The standard data is saved and
maintained in ahierarchical structure within a database. This allows you to
construct new standards and maintain existing ones quickly and efficiently.
Collectively, the information in StandardsPro is called data elements. Data
elements at higher levels are created by grouping data elements at the lower
levels. The hierarchical structure of StandardsPro includes the following
elements.
Sub-Operation

Asub-operation is an individual work element of a job or
task that can be measured. In the StandardsPro data
hierarchy, sub-operations are the lowest level of data
elements. Sub-operations are sometimes called sub-ops.

Operation

An operation is a group of two or more sub-operations
performed in one location or workarea. Operations are the
focal point of StandardsPro.

Plan

A plan isa group of two or more operations combined to
complete a job or task.

Note:

If your system has been customized, the data levels may be referred to
differently but the basic functionality of creating and maintaining them
is the same.

StandardsPro also includes a Worksheet and Transfer function. The Worksheet
function is used to create worksheets (or ‘pick lists’) of publicsub-operations
that can be attached to operations. Although it is not a requirement to attach a
worksheet to an operation, it is a quick and efficient way to organize
sub-operations and create operations. The Transfer function is used to create
text files of public operation or plan data that can be transferred to a text file
and used in other applications.

General
Procedure

The followingsequence outlines the basic procedure for building a data
structure in StandardsPro.
1.

Create new sub-operations.
Ex: Prepare Wood, Assemble box, Build crank

2.

Add method steps to the sub-operation.

1 - 2 StandardsPro™ Overview

Introduction

Ex: Measure wood to specifications
Cut wood to specifications
3.

Create a new operation.
Ex: Assemble Wooden Box

4.

Add thesub-operations to the operation.

5.

Create a new plan.
Ex: Build a Music Box

6.

Add operations to the plan.
Note:

Add auxiliary data (operator, applicator, and safety instructions) at
each data level if desired.

The following diagram displays the internal data structure that occurs in
StandardsPro.
