ABSTRACT
The project’s aim is about the development of an Expert System to diagnose the patient’s depressive disorder type.
The application detects when the p the patient suffers one of the depressive disorder types based on an associated simptomatology. This detection system will observe the patient for a time, keeping its previous diagnostic. The information will be accessible to theuser, so in the future it would be used.
This application’s development never done before, will provide the key to diagnose any type of depressive disorder. This detection will be realized by the psychiatrist or family doctor after doing the test to a patient. The results that the application will diagnose are: Depressive Disorder, Substances Disorder, Distimic Disorder, Ciclotimic Disorder,Bipolar Disorder I, Bipolar Disorder II, Not determinates Disorder and the un-existence of any type of depression. Each of them will have symptoms that will end in different diagnostics.
The project’s memory tries to introduce us in the Artificial Intelligence and also in the psychological disorders that exists and explains the steps to get to the application developing the Expert System andeach stage that has to be done.
There are five stages: the problem’s study; its viability; the knowledge’s acquisitions and representations; the application’s implantation and its validation.
The study of the problem and its viability will be done at the beginning of the project, describing the problem, the causes, the study’s reason and its possible viability as an Expert System.
- 4 -The Knowledge’s acquisition is realized by taking different information about the treated topic, using kinds of materials and different ways, making structured and non structured interviews an also by founded documentation about the depressive disorders.
The application’s implantation corresponds to the Software wanted to be used, that required the language’s election, the way to present theapplication’s interface, as all kind of elements related to it. For this codification its used Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 for the development of the inference motor and the interface user. In the research and actualization of the Data base its used Microsoft Access 2000.
Finally, the validation, which consist in contrasting the results of the finished application with new ones done in thereal world. Its has done successfully. - 5 -
