Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. It is a science that is based on theories and observations, it includes every aspect of how we feel, think and behave. Theactual psychology as a science, since its inception has had an entire evolutionary process, framed controversies and countless contributions (all of them valid) that have contributed to psychology wasranked as a science, then, we must start from science as primarily such.
There are many philosophers who have contributed to science, as it was a first approach to this by Wilhelm Wundt, which presentsus with some sections on scientific knowledge, among which stand out. Wundt founded the first psychology laboratory for research at the University of Leipzeig in 1879. He was considered to be the“father of experimental psychology”, which is one of the 7 of the largest subfield in psychology, followed by developmental , physiological, personality, clinical and counseling, social and industrial andorganizational psychology. He was primarily interested in experimental psychology where psychologists conduct research on psychological processes including learning, memory, sensation, perception,thinking, motivation and emotion. Wundt used the term voluntarism to describe his view of psychology, and believed that attention is actively controlled by intentions and motives in other words thatattention controls other psychological processes as perceptions, thoughts and memories.
One of the best known and the most controversial contributor to psychology is Sigmund Freud, physicianoriginally from Vienna, is the creator of psychoanalysis, theory that states that most of our behaviors are derived from our subconscious. He was fascinated by the central nervous system and his interest ledhim to study neuropathology with a neurologist who was using hypnosis to treat nervous disorders and seek their psychological origins.
