While researching for this Project I learned a lot about sleep that I didn’t know. The Human body cannot live without sleep. Sleep will always win even if it’s not functioning the right way or at theright time. This can lead to Sleep Disorders.
Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, Insomnia and Parasomnia are some of the most common sleep disorders. There are many sleep disorders that most people don’t evenknow about or realize they could have such as; Daytime Sleepiness, Trouble Falling Asleep, Excessive Sleeping, REM Sleep Disorder and Restless Leg Syndrome.
The right amount of sleep is needed everynight, about 6-8 hours. It’s not aware to many people that those who can only sleep for a few hours or who sleep too many hours may have a disorder. Sometimes, it has to do with the food they eat.There are foods that promote sleep and others that keep you awake. Foods that promote sleep are; turkey, figs, dates, yogurt, milk and tuna. If someone has trouble falling asleep they should eat foodsthat promote sleep only at dinner time. People should be eating healthier foods during the day such as; green, leafy veggies, whole grains, fruits, etc. The key is not to eat too much during the daytimeto prevent Daytime Sleepiness. Depending on whether you want to fall asleep or stay awake, the food you eat can help if you eat right and make sure it’s a healthy choice.
Many say that stress is thecause of their sleep problems. Restless Leg Syndrome is a creepy twitch people get when they are laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Some get it in the middle of the night or even during the day. Itis mainly found in middle-aged people or older adults. Stress or emotional upset makes it worse. It has been found more in people who have Chronic Kidney Disease, Parkinson’s disease, and IronDeficiency or are pregnant. Due to the discomfort twitching, aching, pulling or tingling, it can lead to less sleep which can eventually lead to daytime sleepiness, anxiety, depression or Insomnia. There...
