Smoking in public places
First of all, smoking next to non-smoking persons is disrespectful, because it provokes an increased risk of different diseases in the others and also annoys the otherperson. It’s necessary to respect the decision of every single human in the world, this is one of the basis on which our society must be built. Smokers should not only think about themselves, becausethey are sharing their lives with others that could get harmed. It’s important to remember that make use of healthy air is a right for all of us.
Second, is proved that smoking is very harmful forsmokers and secondhand smokers as well. It increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and cancer (particularly lung cancer, cancers of thelarynx and mouth, and pancreatic cancer). It’s essential to be aware of the effects of nicotine in human’s body: it could cause death.
Finally, avoiding smoke in public building could be a good way topersuade smokers to give up. They might find in situations where is not possible to smoke, so they should fit and try to understand that is better for them and their neighbor to end that horriblehabit.
Smokers may say that they feel discriminated as not being allowed to smoke in public. However, as a smoker I can say that it was our decision to start it, so we have to take the consequences andthink about the others. If we don’t want to feel discriminated we should join a group of smokers, or try to adapt to the circumstances.
