In Hamburg, Germany a family is about to have dinner. While mother Anine sets down her last plate of her exquisite “Bregenwurst” a knock on the door surprises them. “Who could be at this time ofnight papa” little Edward said. Garrit goes to answer the door and there was Firtz, Garrit’s young brother who only came by for money for his, as he calls it, medicine. But this time their conversationstarted quite different than other times, because he immediately asked in a very loud tone “Grandmother’s ring, where is it?” Garrits eyes widen, “why do you care Firtz?” Firtz voice started to whisper“I now know what its worth and if we sale it half the profit is mine.” Garrits mouths widen and squealed “For you that ring implies profit but for me that ring symbolizes one of our family’s honors.” Hetook a deep breath trying to hold down his anger, “That ring survived the Holocaust Firtz, with our grandmother who escaped from the concentration camp and she had it till the day she died .How couldyou put a price on something like that.” Firtz try to speak but Garrit slapped the door on his face. Garrit composed himself to go back to his nice family dinner.
Firtz filled with anger stayedoutside the house waiting for everyone to go to sleep. Around 11pm the house was dark and still.
