Social Responsability
Our purpose is to demonstrate other ways to promote their social responsibility agenda. We believe that because of the rising in the domestic violence in Puerto Rico and the rising in teen pregnancy, Los Cidrines Bakery, with their connections and publicity network should help andcooperate to prevent and/or minimize these unfortunate situations. This will be a great contribution to our community and is also beneficial to the company’s image.

Social Responsibility: Los Cidrines Bakery
Los Cidrines Bakery was founded in Arecibo in 1978 by two brothers,Manuel and Guillermo Cidre. That year they opened the first store specializing in bread, pastry, sandwiches and hors d'oeuvres. Their famous “Quesitos” and “Sobao” Bread became the favorites of everyone all over the island who would travel to Arecibo to find these delicious products. In August of 1982 they opened their second store in San Juan, becoming the first bread store and bakery on theisland to expand to the capital of Puerto Rico. By 1985 Los Cidrines became the first and only chain of bread stores and bakeries in Puerto Rico under the same name.
Today the Los Cidrines Bakery exports products to markets in Florida and the Eastern coast of the United States as well as the British and North American Virgin Islands. In 2009 the Los Cidrines Bakery celebrated 30 years making frozenbread and pastry products of the highest quality. It also has the most technologically advanced manufacturing plant in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The Los Cidrines Bakery is the leading brand of bread and pastry in all of Puerto Rico recognized for its commitment, innovation and excellence. Los Cidrines has contributed to the employment on the island and is committed to making Puerto Rico abetter country with a better quality of life. The social responsibility distinguished Los Cidrines from its start. They support entities on Puerto Rico that identify with social needs and have a high commitment to improve the quality of life. These entities are Iniciativa Comunitaria, CruzRoja de Puerto Rico y Life Link. The entity Iniciativa Comunitaria helps the margined people, psychiatric patients and people who have problems with drugs. All of these people need some help in the health campus. This entity was the first in implementing an exchange program of “jeringuillas” to prevent the contagious of the HIV virus. The other entity is Cruz Roja de Puerto Rico that helps in theblood donation to people who needed it because of cancer, accidents or other diseases. And the last entity is Life Link who helps people when they need some organ or tissue donation to live.
Some of the organizations around the world have a new role, which is to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the next generations to meet their needs. Organizations...
